PETA tells kids to hide their pets from Daddy.

PETA - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (its hard to even write that without laughing) - has just discovered that fish can "feel pain," and have therefore knighted fishing fathers of America as their new bait. To combat this they have created a lovely comic book for children dipicting how their evil fathers will be soon coming after their "puppies" and "kitties" too. Quoth the article:

Imagine that a man dangles a piece of candy in front of you. ... As you grab the candy, a huge metal hook stabs through your hand and you’re ripped off the ground. You fight to get away, but it doesn’t do any good... That would be an awful trick to play on someone, wouldn’t it?”

If there is one organization on this planet that I hate more than PETA, I do not know of it. But, on the bright side, if you are ever hard up for some hipocrisy and lies (and church is closed), check out what they've got their hands in. It is rediculous.

  • Incredible but unfortunately I can believe it.

In 1988 3 of my children were attacked by a neighbors dog and badly hurt. One took over 100 stitches. When walking down the street after this incident my kids would prefer to jump in front of an 18 wheeler rather than pass in front of the dog.

We asked the court to put the dog down. The Italian equivelant of PETA paid the owner's court costs to attempt to not have the dog put to sleep...

    Need I say more.

  • Penn and Teller do a show on Showtime called BullSh*t! where they investigate world issues and organizations. One of these shows was on PETA -- it might be the best show of the series -- where they showed hard facts that said PETA euthanizes over 2/3 of the dogs that they "save." Some other highlights show upper ranking PETA officials who use animal-tested drugs, as well as PETA literature that explains in black and white that they do not even support animals as pets (the goal is total animal liberation). I wonder if all the pet owners who contribute donations to PETA know how PETA feel s about them.

I wish there were something that could be done about organizations like PETA.
